This flyer is for candidates who have just completed the NCLEX. Here, candidates can find information on how their results are processed, what happens if they don’t pass the exam, the NCLEX Quick Results Service, and who they can contact if they have a problem with the NCLEX or its administration.

This webinar will show you how NCSBN ensures fairness for all groups taking the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN examinations using a Differential Item Functioning (DIF) panel review process. NCSBN psychometric staff will explain how DIF review helps ensure candidates with comparable nursing knowledge would perform similarly on exam items, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or other irrelevant factors. More specifically this webinar will discuss:

• What does DIF mean?
• How to detect items with DIF?
• Who reviews DIF items?

Webinar attendees will be provided with updates on the Next Generation NCLEX project (NGN). Topics covered include an overview of the NCSBN clinical judgment measurement model (NCJMM), an in-depth explanation of Layer 4 and how it fits into the action model.

NCSBN ensures the fair and secure delivery of the NCLEX by administering the exam under strict supervision and security measures. The first part of this session will highlight the security measures NCSBN has put in place for the NCLEX, including incidents that occur at testing centers as well as our confidentiality agreement with both students and educators. During the second part of this session, you will learn about the testing accommodation process, including the roles of the candidate, NCSBN, Pearson VUE and nursing regulatory bodies.

Practice analysis studies assist NCSBN in evaluating the validity of the test plan, which guides the content distribution of the NCLEX. This presentation will provide an overview of the evidence-based methodology NCSBN uses to determine what content should appear on the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exams.

The NCLEX uses CAT. It relies on modern psychometric theory coupled with modern computer-driven administration to produce a psychometrically sound, standardized exam for measuring the minimal competency required to practice safe, entry-level nursing. This break out session will describe the background and methods behind the NCLEX CAT methodology.

Ever wonder how NCLEX items are developed? This session will explain the processes and steps every NCLEX item goes through before it can be used on the NCLEX. Opportunities for educator involvement will also be highlighted.

Standard setting is a process used by testing professionals to determine the passing score on a test. It is an important step in establishing the validity and legal defensibility of an exam program. The NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exams reevaluate their respective passing standards triennially. During this breakout session, NCSBN staff will discuss the steps involved in setting NCLEX passing standards.
