And let's be honest, the accomplishment was the big goal of the Apollo program. We didn't find space people that we could converse with. As far as we know, we didn't find anything on the moon that cures cancer or ends starvation. We didn't find anything, you know, moon gold that is better than our gold or anything along those lines. We found that we could do it. We found that we could go further than we had ever thought that we could go, but that was about it, and for the expense that the program cost. The question's about whether or not it's worth it came back.

I hold Professor Emeritus status, and have taught at the prelicensure, RN-BSN and Masters levels, and continue to teach. In addition to my publications and international presentations i.e. Sigma (Theta Tau International) I was awarded grants from Robert Wood Johnson New Careers in Nursing and The Gold Foundation. We’re not in fight or flight mode at this point, where we feel that emergency declarations are necessary. So, legislators can calmly think about what makes the most sense to help their state going into the future. When it comes to RNs and LPN/VNs, I think with nearly 40 states in the NLC, it is the gold standard for https://www.tfah.org/article/new-report-places-25-states-and-dc-in-high-performance-tier-on-10-public-health-emergency-preparedness-measures/ 22 | In Focus 2023, Vol. 1 | 23 continued from page 21 dealing with public health crises and emergencies.”

I jokingly told someone, you know, that the grant was funded through the fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and we spent all of the money, plus some, trying to figure out who actually ran nurse practitioner programs in this country, and to try to reach out to them. ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 But we did end up finding everyone, and we emailed all of them with our request. So, we collected all degrees, and we collected certification reports beginning in 2019 through 2023, and we asked them for both their ANCC and their AANP Certification Board results.

Think about that all the time, right? You have people that cheat in the Olympics all the time, go on the Olympic stand, go on the medal stand, get their moment of glory, right? The national anthem plays. Six months later, you find out, oh, they're on steroids. Second place, here's a gold medal. ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 9 They get sent the gold medal, and that's it, right? There's no redo of the medal ceremony. There's no redo of that time in the glory for these athletes. And that's hard because a lot of people have a lot of built-up animosity and anger and rightfully so.
