Senate President, Bill Galvano, had historically opposed any sort of increased scope of practice legislation, as did Senator Gayle Harrell, who is the chair of the Health Policy Committee.     We have a specific process for when it's a doctor's order, and that's also in our statute and of course it follows the same line, but that has to go through a different... the nurse supervisor sends the form to the nurse peer review committee, but the nurse peer review committee then sends the form to the medical director because the medical order has to be reviewed by physicians, of course. Again, I want to emphasize the importance of collaboration because it's possible if there is collaboration, and we all know this, if we're all friends and we want to do what's right and the safety of the patient is foremost and we all work together, all you have to do is bring this to the attention of your supervisor, work collaboratively, and everything works out great.

    Because as Maryann mentioned, I have a day job as a Deputy Assistant Director for Healthcare Compliance at IHSC, which as I mentioned falls under Homeland Security. So I have oversight of risk management, quality improvement, accreditation, compliance, health plan management, which includes medical claims, provider network, and following up on any medical complaints.     This is just part of my research. And it was easy for me without having to violate anybody's proprietary copyright for me to show you some experiences. There are commercial applications that allow you to use immersive VR or computer desktop. So for instance, Oxford Medical Simulation, which is our partner that I'm working with in the American Nurses Foundation Grant, which is looking at multi-patient simulation, they are able to produce scenarios that you can use in the headset or on your computer. So a program that may be of students, not everybody can get a headset.
