They burn out, they leave. The practice is not what they expected it to be. In fact, I heard that the other day, that somebody was saying that one of the key points that they think that when you're looking at competencies needs to be is around that professional development and professional identity.

So if you look at the types of…the ways we could use this in the classroom, I always think about, "Okay, how would we teach diabetic emergencies?" So you have three major diabetic emergencies, DKA, hypoglycemia, and then HHS. So it's always good to use, as I said, unfolding case studies and look for salient points. Like, what is abnormal here? And you might have, on one of the unfolding case studies, a very low blood sugar with a patient who is confused, and you're asking them to not only eliminate data that's not important but highlight salient data such as the glucose and the confusion, and then list the priority diagnosis.

These steps typically include: n Graduating from a recognized nursing program, n Meeting the specific requirements of the state board of nursing, and n Passing the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) NCLEX® examination for registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs). Because passing the NCLEX is usually the final step in the nurse licensure process, the number of people passing the NCLEX (“pass rate”) is a good indicator of how many new nurses are entering the profession in the U.S. These tables provide the most recent data on the NCLEX testing volume and the associated pass rates.

It also allows nurses an easy access platform for license renewal and information sharing. MHA is pleased to provide comment in support of the Compact.
