Manual. These social violations have no nexus to the practice of nursing and are highly unlikely to result in injury or harm to the public served by the nursing profession. Moreover, the purposes of the NLC also include “decreasing redundancies in the consideration and issuance of nurse licenses; and providing opportunities for interstate practice by nurses who meet uniform licensure requirements” See NLC Art. I b. 6 and 7. Neither of these purposes is served by treating social violations such as those described here as a basis for encumbering the license of a nurse and thereby precluding eligibility for a multi-state license under the NLC, unless otherwise expressly required by an NLC member state law.
