If it's not an address that is connected with the institution where they're employed at, if it's a Yahoo address, a Gmail account, AOL, I would question that. They, students, from my experience, have made up preceptors. They've made up clinical sites on the web and made a, you know, a site that you could go to and it looks like a hospital site. And looks like these are valid people. And they're not. So be cautious of emails that you're given for your preceptors. - It was a bad outcome that caught you onto this, would there have been anything else before that that might have been a red flag or a trigger that something was wrong?

All of our licensing staff, however, remained in the office because we were still relying on some paper processes and we also had to have staff answering the phones, and at that time, we did not have an option for phone coverage outside of the office. In April 2020, in response to the pandemic, our governor requested that we process out-of-state applications within 24 to 48 hours. And obviously, this is vital because we are not a compact state, so in order for us to get nurses licensed quick enough, we had to really speed up the time it took to process out-of-state applications. So, that request was made, we were granted federal funding to hire 25 FTEs for 4 months.

And I didn't know if you could speak to what states are doing that, because it's been harder to find. And then if you can speak to what you found just from states that have alternative- to-discipline models, and states that don't.
