Everything's opposite to something else. And under the law, under the Slave Code in Virginia, it's pretty clear that some people are property and some people own property in people. But what is life like for free Blacks? What is life in Virginia? What is life like for favored slaves? Is it possible that there are warm human connections? Well, yeah, everything is possible and it's really complicated. And that's a wonderful book. And if you haven't read it, you really should.

The students got some real firsthand disaster nurse experience in writing those policies, procedures, and protocols. An unexpected impact of the COVID pandemic was the fact that a number of APRNs in our communities were laid off or furloughed because of the decrease in clinical site patient visits. And as a result, the employment in APRN positions for the new grads really was greatly reduced and only now, is the majority of the class employed in an APRN position.
