Ulrich, EdD, RN, FACHE, FMN and Jane Barnsteiner, PhD, RN, FMN The evidence creates a compelling case for all newly licensed registered nurses (NLRNs) to have a transition to practice (TTP) program from the student to the professional role. Evidence has linked TTP programs to improved safety and quality patient outcomes as well as to the retention of new graduate RNs.

This includes certified nursing aides/assistants (CNAs), patient care assistants (PCAs), patient care technicians (PCTs), state tested nursing assistants (STNA), nursing assistants-registered (NA/Rs) or certified medication aides/assistants (MA-Cs).
