To make sure that all candidates get only 15 pretest items, candidates could see any of the following 3 scenarios. First of all, they could receive all 15 standalone items. In a second scenario, they could receive 9 standalone items and 1 case study item, which is 6 items making up the 15 in total. Or finally the third scenario you could see are 3 stand-alone items and 2 case studies which would comprise 12 items, making a total of 15. Each of these scenarios ensures that all candidates will have an equal number of unscored items.
