NCSBN2005AnnualReport.pdf
According to the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis in 1980, more than 25 percent of all registered nurses (RNs) were under the age of 30; by 2000, the figure had dropped to just over 9 percent. More than one million new and replacement nurses will be needed by 2012 but due to the fact that fewer and fewer young adults choose nursing as a profession there simply will not be enough nurses to replace the retiring workforce. And while those entering the nursing forces as a second career are welcomed with open arms, their generally older age at entry to practice can mean their years of service will be limited.

They've played one of the biggest roles in our research projects from clinical educators to clinicians to nurse faculty, and the future ultimately of NGN depends on them. I just want to point out a couple places, like the nursing professionals really have served as a pillar and a foundation on which the research and the NCLEX as a whole has been built. There have been hundreds of nurses participate in various research studies, thousands of nurses, from educators to regulators providing feedback, and hundreds of thousand aspiring nurses who are actually taking the research section, providing us important data.

And finally, you get targeted communication. While you cannot send a speed memo to a specific individual, speed memo categories ensure inquiries are routed to the appropriate department, allowing for faster and more accurate responses. Creating a speed memo is easy. There are three different ways. The first is by clicking the compose button that you see on the left hand side of your Speed Memo page." The second is by clicking the Speed Memo dropdown in the top navigation and selecting Compose Speed Memo. And the third method is sending it directly from the Nursys profile by going to the hamburger menu in the upper right side and selecting Send Speed Memo.

Ahead of the times, once again, NCSBN launched an electronic network, NCNET, to deliver a variety of software applications and services to the organization's member boards. NCNET became a powerful vehicle of communication and connection. NCSBN embraced technology in developing its own software and network, so it was no wonder that once the World Wide Web took off, NCSBN was there. The first NCSBN website was launched in 1996. Soon after, NCSBN launched the first ever online NCLEX-RN prep course, allowing candidates to study at their own pace 24/7 365. Soon, the campus of NCSBN Learning Extension expanded with an NCLEX-PN prep course and web-based continuing education courses for nurses and faculty.

Midway International Airport (MDW) Plan for approximately 30-60 minutes in travel time from the airport to the hotel depending on arrival time. Taxis Taxicabs are available on a first come, first serve basis from the lower level curb in front of all terminals. There are no flat rates because taxicabs run on meters. Expect to spend approximately $40 to $50 USD and about an hour travel time for a taxicab ride from ORD to downtown Chicago; and $30 to $40 USD and 40 minutes for a taxicab ride from MDW to downtown Chicago.
