I've seen technology mandates fail spectacularly. We found our enthusiasts first, gave them the tools, let them succeed publicly, and then people came to us asking when they'd get their license. ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. The future skill isn't how do I use Copilot? It's how do I know when Copilot is wrong?

In mental health contexts particularly, where students often carry stigma and anxiety into the encounter before they even meet the patient, debrief is also where those attitudes surface and get examined. ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 The behavioral data from a study like this can serve as a concrete artifact for that conversation, not just a score, but a map of how a student reasoned, where they dwelled, and where they moved too quickly. This is a fundamentally different kind of feedback than what most programs currently offer.

Valarie, can you tell us a bit more about your thoughts around if educators should have a certain amount of hours of experience in a certain setting so that they can appropriately support their students within the clinical setting? ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 - You know, I really do. And I'm a little bit biased on that. And that's maybe because I had been a practitioner for almost 20 years before I actually flipped over into education. I went into education. I think that it's not that we cannot do early on, but I feel like us, as educators, are a little bit more confident in ourselves when we also have a base or background of knowledge that we're bringing in.

A total of 12,000 practi- tioners were sampled. The WEB group and the MAIL group was each composed of 6,000 practitioners. Within each group, half was randomly assigned to Form A and the other half to Form B. Each activity was assessed using two rating scales, frequency (0-5) and priority (1-4). The MAIL sample was a random sample from all newly licensed NCLEX candidates stratified by state or jurisdiction. The WEB sample was selected from the remaining NCLEX candidates who had also submitted their email address. All participants were newly licensed nurses.
