Michael Kotnaur talked about “how do we measure success?” On pg. 6 of the PPT (attachment to the minutes) he reviewed the various percentages and provided an explanation as to how he interpreted these numbers. There was discussion about the challenges the awards program has faced from the spring of 2020 where we had a full slate of recipients spanning across all categories to much lower numbers over the past several years. She commented that it was ok to nominate people for singular outstanding projects in many fields – have the Awards been viewed this way before? She suggested potential tweaking of Awards, focusing on smaller achievements rather than lifetime achievement. There were several comments / suggestions: A member stated that their NRB is looking to expand their way of thinking, to consider the spirit and intention of each award category. A member proposed a “legacy booth” where previous winners discuss their winning accomplishments and projects with members who are considering submitting a nomination for the Awards program.
