In regard to LPN/VN practice, the employers also awarded the most average points (2.4) to “critical thinking or clinical decision mak- ing.” Similar numbers of points were given to “medication administration skills” (2.2 points), “therapeutic relationship skills” (2.1 points) and “psychomotor skills” (1.9 points). The least amount of points were awarded to “management/leader- ship/supervisory skills” (1.4 points).

And the employer themes, the main theme was RNs and LPNs are pretty much interchangeable, whether working as a staff nurse in long-term care or in the patient's home. An employer said, "The LPNs and RNs are pretty much interchangeable in the field as far as providing skilled care to our clients."

Death was by injection of medication commonly found in hospitals, and Yorker says like many killers in her study, Rachels had been abused as a child. - She'd also watched her mother die on life support equipment, and I think she had some feeling of not wanting to put patients through heroics or through prolonging their life unnecessarily. - Rachels was suspected of killing 10 patients. She was found guilty, but mentally ill. These cases are shocking, but rare.
