So when we look at the general ethical concerns in the AI space, we found ourselves drawn to the seminal work of Michael Sandel. And you'll see on the slide that Sandel identified three key ethical concerns. ©2024 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 So the first of these are concerns as to privacy and surveillance. We then have the second, which is around bias and discrimination. And then the final ethical concern raised by Sandel is related to the role of human judgments, and the concerns about replacing human judgment.

"What is the rationale for using the term client instead of patient in questions?" The only rationale there is that's been in our style guide and we didn't change it. I'm certainly willing to discuss that. ©2021 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 But client has just been in our style guide probably...I know at least 12 years, probably before I got there we switched to clients. You know, if you want to have some more discussion about that as well. That was from Brandon Jones. David Benton, "Phil, you and your team have done a great job in documenting the research.

Can you describe the different extra-time-related accommodations that are available for candidates on NCLEX? And also, do you know anything about how likely it is that those accommodations would be approved? ©2023 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 - Extra time, there are a number of different options from all the way from two hours to a full extra half time. And sometimes a double day request or double time request that's split over two days. But that is between the candidate and their NRB. And so, they will need to reach out to their NRB with any documentation that the NRB might need at that time. - Okay.

And the results of the study were written up in the "Journal of Nursing Regulation" in the July 2023 issue and it's me and Brendan. And without further ado, we got time. We got, you know, a lot of times. Are there any questions about this? ©2024 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 - [Woman 1] Hi. I apologize already for asking my questions because I annoyed Brendan yesterday. So, thank you because for me, this is very timely. I shared with Brendan we have some issues in New Jersey about simulation. So, I'm here at every one of the simulation.

They gave us many wonderful ideas as to what could be done and how to improve things, and that would be not just for them but also for the recovering nurse. First of all, non-punitive workplace policies really emerged. Even in some places where they have a punitive policy, they said, "I wish we had something else." ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 So replacing termination with some kind of treatment-focused response for recovery and retention. Keeping nurses employed was something people came back to. That allows them to stay in treatment and return safely to practice. Early identification and education and outreach, they kind of go hand-in- hand.

Another way to look at it is we did a deeper dive in the sample and we looked at responses from nurses that reported they worked in critical care as well as in med-surg to better understand their attainment of advanced cardiac life support. ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 And as you can see here, critical care nurses are, on average, more likely to attain this advanced skill than nurses overall as well as those that are working in med-surg. So I think one of the things that you really see here is that practice, entry-level practice specifically has really progressed over the last two decades and what it was in 2005.
