Leader to Leader, May 06
As the “baby boomer” population ages, the number of those affected by chronic diseases will escalate and significantly impact both the population’s health status and resultant health care needs. The fastest growing segment of the population is the “over 85” age group. It is estimated that a minimum of 50% of this group will require help with activities of daily living. In 1950 the “parent- support ratio” was three, which is calculated by dividing the number of persons 50–64 years old by the number of persons 85 years or older, multiplied by 100. By 1993 this ratio had tripled to 10; by 2050 the ratio is projected to almost triple to 29.5,6 In short, the family caregiver support for the aging population will be less and less adequate to meet the need.

This suggests an accurate and predictive reference point for our case to investigator ratio metric. Further, we noted a strong positive predictive value indicating investigator caseload's over 38 correctly identified 81% of the cases that would ultimately run over the median close your time. It does a fairly good job discriminating as well as it also accurately identify 69% of the cases that close more efficiently.

The majority of programs have formal orientation for adjunct, full-time and part-time new faculty, as well as mentoring of new full-time faculty. Formal orientation has increased slightly from previous years. Table 2. Almost 93% of the RN graduates and 91.5% of the LPN/VN gradu- ates were female. About 78.1% of the RNs and 67.2% of the LPN/VNs graduates were White, 3.9% of RNs and 2.3% of LPN/VN were Asian, and 8.0% of RNs and 5.2% of LPN/VN were Hispanic. The percentage of graduates from an African American background was higher for the LPN/VNs (22.1%) than for the RNs (7.4%).

Finally, while expressing strong support for the skills and commitment of LPN/VNs, some participants expressed the need for a higher ratio of RNs to LPN/VNs, given the increased complexity of resident conditions and the focus on preventing readmissions. Of note, there was not consensus around the need for a higher RN/LPN/VN ratio.

Beginning with our case-to-investigator metric, we identified a meaningful cut point at the 35th observation in the sample. Specifically, this aligned with the case load per investigator of 38. As you can see, the area under the curve, or AUC, which is a measure of model fit, is good and just a bit below the 0.8 excellent threshold. This suggests an accurate and predictive reference point for our case-to- investigator ratio variable. ©2021 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. You actually...in the worst-case scenario, it could flip. All of a sudden, it would show that something which was bad looks good in a multivariable analysis. So, based on that information, that is why you won't see the case-to-investigator ratio variable up here. We did remove that. We investigated it, but we ultimately removed it. And so, what you see here in front of you, finally, is the final three-variable model.
