    The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. One of the NRB's fundamental roles is setting direction for the NRB. The NRB, working closely with the EO, should periodically review the NRB's mission, values and vision; and understand its stakeholders and the internal and external operating environment. NRB conducts and reviews self-assessment Resources Tool #7 NRB Self-Assessment Description Tool #7, NRB Self-Assessment, will assist the NRB in developing public policy and advocating on behalf its behalf.
