You don't have to be in healthcare to use the tool but you do have to be 18 or older to use the length, the way we've set it up and made it really simple and really compact and as simple as possible for healthcare workers. What do you need to know? It takes 2 to 5 minutes to enroll, it takes 1 to 2 minutes each evening, and you're done in about 2 weeks or 15 days, pretty straightforward. Not only that, if you find yourself wanting to share this concept with your colleagues, you can do that. We created a 3 Good Things video on YouTube that's a three-minute long video.

So it can write those responses as well. The point being, this has really changed the game and made it much more difficult to identify things like phishing.

But it sure was the talk of the town back in the day. Now, to some, Florida's policy offered something new and something helpful. It told prospective applicants, for example, "Hey, we're looking." They put it right out there. ©2024 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 And isn't that a little bit helpful too? But almost like every other regulator, Florida's policy does not say what exactly that they're looking for. What are the standards by which applicants are going to be evaluated against? This is a terrible slide.

And so I use this as an example for us to contend with ourselves as a profession and to think about the ways in which we provide a more holistic and complete history. And so I think, or I hope that you join me in thinking that we have work to do. Right? And so if you're like me, I am solution oriented. ©2022 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 And when presented with a problem, I'm very interested in how we improve. And so if you're like me, you want to know what are the strategies? What are the tactics? What do we do? And if we don't do it, what are the consequences, right, to the patients and the communities we care for?

The table shown in this slide shows the likelihood of a new arrest over periods of time based on the types of arrest. As you can see, the first column shows the likelihood of 0.1, meaning the same as the general population of the same age. ©2021 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 The second column shows the likelihood of 0.3, meaning it is less than likely than the normal population. So, looking at this table, a person who is convicted of a violent crime in the first category, four to seven years after that, the likelihood of they're being arrested again for violence is about the same as the general population of the same age who had never been arrested before.

You have the kind of the PDF slides for all of these presentations available to you within the app. You can at any point in time... We tried to make it easy to dig this up. So you could just use your mobile phone and it will pull it right up, any of these studies that I'm mentioning.

We found among other things that only 65% of schools actually include a course or program outcome about clinical judgment, and only 27% of schools use a model for teaching it. Academic nurse educators ©2023 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 used various approaches to teach for clinical judgment, and Mary Anne and Lisa will be talking more about those findings about learning strategies to develop clinical judgment in academia in a little while. Meanwhile, we cannot do this alone. The journey of clinical judgment development is not complete and cannot be complete when students graduate.

But again, from a practical aspect, let's say state A denies, and this applicant doesn't meet the requirements for a multistate license in their jurisdiction. And that applicant says, "All right. Well, I'm going to go to border State B and change my primary state of residence, and I'm going to get my multistate license." ©2026 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 Well, now if there's an encumbrance out there and State B didn't recognize it, that applicant and licensee who's just been denied across the border can take their privilege to practice and go practice in that state that originally denied them. That's why we care about multistate eligibility and protecting the public, and also being consistent in how we look at these things.

And it's hard sometimes to identify, "I should be in that program," or, "I need to get involved in that," or, you know, call the Board of Nursing to find out more about that program. ©2023 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 What are you seeing? Are nurses reaching out and doing that? And what can we do to encourage them to do so? - This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm going to go ahead and throw it out there. I think we need to stop referring to nurses as heroes.
