In this case, you need two cut scores to classify students into three levels. But for our licensure exam, we only need one cut score to classify students into pass or fail. This is from our website. Currently, RN passing standard is 0.00 logits. If you pay attention, you will find the passing standard has expiration date. RN passing standard is good until March 31, 2023. Why is the standard good for only three years? Because the practice of nursing changes over time and it is necessary to reevaluate the standard every three years.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. This educational session will poll your knowledge, engage you in discussion, demonstrate Nursys functionality and share categories of speed memos and examples. Avoiding Regulatory Dead Ends We have all heard of “bad apple” nurses. The story of Charles Cullen, “the angel of death” gained worldwide attention and inspired the writing of the Good Nurse, a true story about medicine, killing and monstrosity. Bad nurse cases demonstrate the vitality of ensuring boards of nursing enforce rules and regulations that protect patient safety such as sharing of investigative information, taking adverse action such as revoking a license, or limiting the practice of a nurse.

While staff should process investigative cases as quickly as possible, cases should be investigated in order of the priority (risk) categories assigned to each and within the established timeframe for case completion. As an example, a Priority I case will take precedence over a Priority II, Priority III, or Priority IV. Investigators should simultaneously work cases from each priority level while at the same time giving attention to the age of each case in each priority level. An effective practice is delegating authority to the assigned investigator the ability to elevate or decrease the assigned priority level if additional evidence or information is received that indicates a change in the priority level is warranted.

Most revamped things often start with a new name because a new moniker sets a different tone and expectation revealing intention and purpose. According to Webster’s Dictionary, as a noun, “focus” is “a subject that is being discussed or studied: the subject on which people’s attention is focused, a main purpose or interest or a point at which rays of light, heat, or sound meet.” As a verb, “to focus” means “to cause (something, such as attention) to be directed at something specific, to direct your attention or effort at something specific or to adjust (something, such as a lens or a camera) to make an image clear.”

Also, Anthropic is a company funded well by Amazon Web Services with a tool called Claude. And there are a number of others out there for those who really study the field closely. But again, generative AI is one side, and it's where we're going to focus most of our attention today. But it's important at the same time to think about enterprise AI tools for looking at the broad cross- organization processes and systems. And this is where the major technology players also are involved with products like Bedrock from Amazon Web Services, Google AI, IBM's Watsonx.

Kahneman showed that we actually think in two ©2022 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 4 completely separate ways. There is fast thinking which "operates automatically and quickly with little or no effort and no sense of voluntary control." And then there's slow thinking, which allocates attention to the effortful mental activities that demand it. The operations of slow thinking, are often associated with the subjective experience of agency control, choice, and concentration. In other words, fast-thinking operates unconsciously, and slow thinking operates with conscious application.
