So for every book that espouses... and they're both important by the way, you need both of them. But for every book that espouses horizontal development there's... for every 50 books ©2018 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 9 written about horizontal development, there's only 1 book written about vertical development. So there's a 50-to-1 relationship. And vertical development absolutely lives in the left two quadrants. So again, belaboring the point to make a point about how much is working against us when we talk about the 70% success or failure number when it comes to any kind of change initiative.

It's slower thinking. It's deeper thinking. And it turns out that it's more ethical thinking. We need to slow down. ©2021 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 7 You absolutely need to slow down. There's another behavioral economist who says accidental versus deliberate. And, you know, the thing is, is Homer is in charge so much more than Spock, but Spock is the more ethical thinker when it comes to it. And I just think you're probably going to remember Homer and Spock more than System 1 and System 2.

To give you a sense of how the graph works, the solid line is their wages, and the little squiggly bars are where we're confident the wages are. And since it includes the zero line from a mathematical standpoint, I conclude zero things happen. Now you can see on average the line is slightly lower, in fact, here is the 2% bar, right, so you can see on average the line is about 1% lower which matches our other conclusion of about $300. And you can see that maybe after the licensing law passes, there's kind of this slight change in wages, where wages drop for the span of about four or five years.

After they've interpreted, that should lead them to actually choosing the right answer, the appropriate response by the nurse. So now, we're going to talk about specific clinical teaching, learning strategies, assessment and evaluation. But first, we actually have an awareness test. - [Man 1] This is an awareness test. How many passes does the team in white make? The answer is 13. But did you see the moonwalking bear? - Okay. Now that we just watched that video, tell me, did you miss the bear? Most people do because your attention is elsewhere.

All rights reserved. 7 The moral of the story, the point of the video is, it's easy to miss something that you're not looking for. So the same thing can happen to students when they are not aware of the cognitive components of clinical judgment. They might miss those bears.
