Groundbreaking, Comprehensive, Vital: The National Nursing Guidelines for Medical Marijuana | NCSBN
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. By 1937, its use was regulated and largely prohibited by the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937, which the American Medical Association opposed. Because of the prevailing negative public mindset toward marijuana, it was classified a Schedule I drug in the U.S. in 1970 under the Controlled Substances Act, prohibiting its use for any purpose. Schedule 1 drugs are defined as having no current accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Other Schedule I drugs include heroin and LSD. This federal restriction has limited exploration into marijuana’s potential medical use, effectively tying the hands of researchers.

And it did take some work. One thing I have to say the NCSBN team was always there for us and never made us feel like we were out there on our own. https://www.ncsbn.org/16856.htm ©2022 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 2 And, you know, that old saying "No question is a silly question," we felt that support from them. As a result of this project, we have more confidence in our data. We fixed our education data. That was one of the biggest issues with our data is everybody who had the job over the years, put a school in under a different name.
