The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. Incorporating input from NCSBN members and many external stakeholders, implementation of the plan involved collaborative efforts by educators, practice organizations, employers and regulators. NCLEX Examinations Offered Abroad Adopted the amended recommendations to proceed with negotiations for a contract amendment with test service for purposes of international administration of the NCLEX examination. Uniform APRN Licensure/Authority to Practice Requirements The revisions to the Alternative Mechanism Element of the Uniform APRN Licensure/Authority to Practice Requirements were adopted: “For applicants for whom there is no appropriate certifying exam available, states may develop alternative mechanisms to assure initial competence until Jan.1, 2005.

And she asks, if students have concern about online proctoring, how are you addressing test security concerns? - That is an excellent question, Sarah. And, you know, we are still using it for that very reason. And, you know, the reality that sort of counterpoint on this, of course, is when you go take your boards, when you go take your NCLEX or your pre-licensure, you will be in a proctored environment. It is no different than that. What the other side of that is that there are other ways to demonstrate mastery of content aside from multiple choice examinations. And so I agree wholeheartedly that if you're using a multiple choice examination, there has to be some degree of test security.

If we look at NCLEX data plus the retirement data from our study, will that be enough to sustain us for the future? Can you look ahead and tell me what does the future outlook look like? I had graduated from Marshall University in 1995, I passed my NCLEX by the grace of God on the first try in February of 1996 and I was an ER nurse. And I still identify kind of, as an ER nurse, well, totally as an ER nurse and I feel like I have that kind of brain. But back in December 15th, 2000, 1995, I was at my boyfriend's apartment and he was a nurse as well.
