This example shows three different nurse data sets, managed and maintained separately by the Texas Board of Nursing, the New Mexico Board of Nursing, and Nursys. Because each of the three entities have linked the nurse’s NCSBN ID to their system’s nurse records, it is easier to search and find the same nurse (if the nurse is licensed in Texas and New Mexico) within these three public license verification systems. The level of emotion. It was exciting. It was intense. They told Kathy Thomas and myself that we just expected too much. And we took our infamous walk in the woods so that we can get to where we are. It took 27 years of expecting too much and determination. It is that expecting too much and determination is why we all stand here today. And this year marks our 25th anniversary and we're very excited to be celebrating 25 years of success. JNE0315GUESTEDITORIAL.indd Guest Editorial The National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s Transition to Practice Study: Implications for Educators The long-awaited results of phase I (RNs in hospitals) of the National Council of State Boards of Nurs- ing’s (NCSBN) multisite, randomized, controlled Transition to Practice study have been released (Spector et al., 2015). This large, national study is the only transition-to-practice research that ran- domly assigned sites to a control group (they used their existing onboarding strat- egies) or to NCSBN’s evidence-based transition to practice (TTP) program. The study investigated whether a transition- to-practice program for new graduates made a difference in several outcomes related to quality and safety.
