U.S. Nursing Licensure for Internationally Educated Nurses | NCSBN

NCSBN offers a manual that provides a detailed guide to each of the uniform licensure requirements for internationally educated nurses. All U.S. boards of nursing use the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).  NCLEX information is available in the  NCLEX Candidate Bulletin . Licensure of Internationally Educated Nurses: A Resource Manual This manual provides a detailed guide to each of the uniform licensure requirements for internationally educated nurses (IENs) and contains additional information that may be useful in specific circumstances.

Explore completed research funded by the NCSBN Technical Advisory Committee, showcasing projects that advance nursing assessment and NCLEX-related evidence. Item preknowledge is indicated by an unexpected short response time and a correct response. Two samples were used for detecting item preknowledge for each examination. The first sample was from the early stage of the operational test and was used for item calibration. The second sample was from the late stage of the operational test, which may feature item preknowledge.

Smiley Senior Statistician, Nursing Regulation March 4, 2020 Introduction Background Methods Results Conclusions • Substance use disorder (SUD) is the most common reason that disciplinary actions are taken against a nurse. • SUD monitoring programs are engaged by boards of nursing to encourage successful treatment of the nurse’s condition and to return the nurse to safe and competent practice. • Most SUD monitoring programs require regular check-ins, random drug testing, attendance at support meetings (such as Alcoholics Anonymous), and worksite monitoring.
