You also have a scenario where employers are refusing to give references or only giving very skinny references saying they worked here from this period to this period. So, we're not giving any character information or any detail. So, we've come across that a lot in licensing because we have a legislative requirement that we get an employment reference of good character, and the majority of them will refuse to give us anything or will only give us dates of employment. And a lot of them have moved around. So, we're feeling like we're in a bit of a quandary with what's happening in society about approaching employer references and then a little bit about what we're learning here about employer references or employer information is important.

Before contacting Pearson VUE, NRBs should determine what appointments the candidate was offered and where If a candidate was offered an appointment within the required time frame and chose not to accept it, the contract requirement was still met. Pearson VUE maintains detailed records of appointment requests and can verify which appointment options candidates were given Candidates may not understand that the contract requirement is met with a single appointment offer The 30-day (after 45 days for NCLEX repeaters; after 60 days for REx-PN repeaters) requirement is not solely at the candidate’s convenience.

However, the roles of the nurse as scientist, educator, clinician, and manager are now also irre- futably intertwined with nursing accountability to the patient, to the profession, and to the public. The NCLEX was a critical step toward uniform nursing standards, yet state and regional variation in the evolutionary path of nursing influences both licensing regulations and the capacity for national norms related to accountability. The same evolution of science and technology Table 1 Systems Theory, Systems Thinking, and Accountability Theories provide a set of interrelated concepts and princi- ples that are generalizable.

I've been a nurse for 40 years, probably 20 of it in the C-suite. And it's an honor to be here, and be able to get my perspective on hiring of nurses and how they come out trained. One of the best things I've done in my career is become a member of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. I've learned so much about regulation and the work behind licensing nurses. And I loved our presentation. A lot of hybrid options of improving the education of nurses. And the theme, going beyond, matches this presentation. We have to go beyond what we're doing to get the results that we want.
