An NCLEX education program code uniquely identifies a school program where a nurse is educated. The education program code is currently a five digit number assigned by the National Consul of State Boards of Nursing to each program approved by a nursing board. These program codes are used to track performance on the NCLEX examination for each educational program. NCSBN wishes to increase the size and change the format of the education program code. The new codes will function in the same way and for the same purpose. This slide demonstrates how the codes are constructed. Here you will see how the transition will work from the old code to the new code.
