Below are two complaints received by BONs. NCSBN encourages educators to use these scenarios, in addition to the resources available in the social media toolkit, to start a dialogue with nursing students regarding the appropriate use of social media in the workplace. Scenario 1: Some hospitals use a service that allows family members and friends to receive consistent information via a single website, and eliminates the need to place and receive numerous tele- phone calls. Its functionality is similar to a blog. One family set up such a site for their sick child.

NCSBN was pleased to welcome Phase II TTP site coordinators to the Site Coordinator Kickoff Meeting held in Chicago, Feb. 1– 2, 2012. Site coordinators received a comprehensive overview of the study, including detailed instructions on their specific responsi- bilities at participating sites. They also had the chance to connect with NCSBN state coordinators during a state Q&A session and practice using the TTP website during a training session.

continued on page 8 NCSBN Research Studies Updates | Spring 2014 8 www.ncsbn.org Acting upon this PERC recommendation, NCSBN’s Transition to Practice Committee designed an evidence-based TTP model, which incorporated: 1. A six-month preceptorship with a trained preceptor; 2. Five online modules to be completed during the first six months of practice. These include the following subject matter: communication and teamwork, patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, quality improvement and informatics.
