To take the NCLEX, you will first need to complete two separate processes (applicable only to nursing regulatory bodies of the U.S. & Canada): Contact your  Nursing Regulatory Body (NRB)  and request a licensure/registration application. The first compact that started, and I think that today we have nine licensure compacts because of the example of the NLC. And on this slide, you're taking a look at some of the key benefits of a licensure compact, in that it facilitates that cross-border practice, it helps the state to maintain public protection, but it also allows a state to keep their sovereignty over the professional licensing aspect rather than seeding that authority to the federal government. ©2021 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.
