In a CAT exam, you are not allowed to skip an item or go back to review the items you have answered. If you don't do well on one item, don't panic. The adaptive algorithms can recapture your true ability later when you perform stably on the exam. This is a graphical representation of the adaptive algorithms. The y-axis is the scale used for both item difficulty and the candidate ability. On this scale, a larger number always indicates a harder question or a higher ability.
