And so, you know, for me, I know I've been supportive even at the University of Delaware, a letter of support in the same vein. But to me, this is an opportunity for us to see how these flexibilities help to not just strengthen the workforce, but expand because ultimately the goal is quality of care. I mean, that's the bottom line. And when we have shortages, we're going to have to be flexible. So, I think we're all on the same page here with this one. - And so, Representative, I want to actually just change this conversation to policy. So what do we do with this DIF information? If an item shows DIF, what does it mean? Well, it could mean three things. ©2025 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 5 First, although the statistics are positive for DIF, there is no evidence from reading the item itself that DIF exist. When the panel reads and examines the item, the panel may not find anything wrong with the item itself. This is a common case in the NCLEX DIF analysis, since the quantitative method we use intends to cast a wider net to flag all possible items that may be potentially problematic.

Nursing programs were forced to go online, and in many states, because of executive orders, nursing programs were allowed to use up to 100% simulation, including virtual simulation, to replace clinical experiences where students provide direct patient care. While there has been a landmark study on the outcomes of replacing up to 50% of clinical experiences with simulation (this study did not include virtual simulation), there have been no studies on the outcomes of programs that use more than 50% simula- tion. Likewise, while there have been many studies on the creative use of virtual Dear Readers, Leader to Leader is normally sent to our subscribers in the fall and the spring.

You could hear ©2019 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 6 a pin drop when Dr. Stoddard was speaking I think there was a lot of attention paid to what he had to say. The challenge for us, of course, is how do we move forward and if we can't move forward individually, perhaps collectively, there may be some ideas we can share in terms of best practices.

These 11 strategies forwarded by the AANA to prevent diversion. And I've outlined in the ovals the four items that had the largest perceived effectiveness. And so the first column, were they implemented in their facility? And you can see on a scale of 1 to 5 that there were some that were quite low in terms of their mean. The second one, labeled effective, is did they perceive these, if they were implemented, to be effective? In other words, if you did do these things, would you think they were effective?

I found a mountain of evidence supporting the mentoring relationship in the nursing education environment. But there is also a tremendous amount of evidence supporting mentoring in general, not just specific to nursing or nursing education. Fedele (2018) describes the benefits to both the mentor and mentee who engage in a collaborative relationship and notes that there are rewards for both.

NCSBN should summarize the available data in a readable form and distribute it to all stakeholders.
