The factors that influence their hiring, credentialing, and privileging, the workforce characteristics of hospitalist practice, and the day-to-day work experience for the nurse practitioner. In Phase 1 of our study, we conducted a cross-sectional mixed mode survey, with a sample of members of the National Association of Medical Staff Services, Society of Hospital Medicine, as well as a selected sample of chief nurse officers and nurse executives of magnet hospitals. These are subjects for our study that are responsible for hiring, privileging, or credentialing of nurse practitioners.
