Approximately 2 million nurses hold a multistate license, and more than ever they are embracing the mobility that the multistate license provides, such as the flexibility to work across state lines. While no new states joined the NLC in 2022, it was a year in which state legislatures studied potential changes to their current licensure structure, which would facilitate cross-border practice as the demand during the pandemic displayed a need for a licensure reform.
