Barbara Blozen: Candidate for President-elect | NCSBN
The BON has seen three different executive officers under my tenure and, an addition of two new BON nursing positions for which I advocated. I have been a consistent and committed member of the BON, much of which I credit to the support of NCSBN. The staff and resources offered by NCSBN has proved to be instrumental for me in my leadership role. I had the opportunity to earn a certificate in Healthy Policy and Media Engagement from George Washington University, as I was awarded a scholarship through NCSBN.

You know, like, when you just read it, you might not think, but if you take time to just think about this for a minute, how comprehensive this is really great. And so, our strategy statement that you will be asked to vote on is this, to protect the public and the trust in nursing by providing innovative regulatory solutions, insights, and expertise. I'm going to open it up for no questions. I planned it that way, just so you know. No, I didn't. Mike says I still have six minutes. Do I really have six minutes? I don't think I do by my watch. Okay, sorry, he says I don't. So, yes, I planned it that way. And remember, I'm wearing my burying suit, so you can kill me now.

I am all in on AI. My job has now become... I am known as the AI guru. I take that with the pride that comes with it. And so I spend a lot of time researching, and I spend a couple of weekends building various different tools that I'm going to highlight here for you using Claude Code.

And I listed them on the board. I said, "Be sure you review that. I know you've had it in AMP, but let's face it, even with eight credits of AMP, or four credits if you're in an LPN program, or even a smaller number of credits," we know that students forget that information.

As I was collecting data not only from our staff, but also just external stakeholders, I was really surprised that there is no baseline for how people ask questions. And I would get anything from, "Hi, this is Kyle," and they were expecting Florence to know who Kyle was.

I want to reregister as soon as possible, should I start now? - Well, have you received your results yet? If not, I would suggest waiting until you receive them. - Not yet. Actually, I just left the test center a couple of hours ago. - Okay, so I would recommend just to be patient, at this point, because after two business days, some states allow candidates to access their unofficial results through the Quick Results Service.

Recovery groups that I was sent to from that website, again, very limited, a good way because they were protective of the nurses. What I really found the most success with, I had my network of folks that I asked for help to, but it was when they said, well, have you tried SheRecovers on Facebook?

Did I get it right? Good. All right. To launch NURSYS in Canada...and not only just there, so that's going to expand to every regulator nurse, every nurse regulator across Canada at some point in time. The goal, I think I will say it. I can say it out loud, right?

Right. So, Leena, of course, was of concern to me and she and I met, I had seen her around the hospital on different units because she was representing her hospice organization. And she and I had a mutual patient and I was working with the family. And I saw her go into the room and I was kind of waiting for her to finish up.
