    The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing. In January 2013, 78 percent of all EOs reported that they do not have a succession plan in place. In response, the NCSBN Board of Directors (BOD) established the EO Succession Resource Committee to create a toolkit to assist NCSBN members in this process. The intention of the toolkit is to provide a starting point for conversation and assessment between the NRB and its EO.
