We also need to make our data visible to the public about how we're doing and our progress and continue to think about how we demonstrate our accountability consistently. And we've all been watching with heavy hearts what's happening in Kansas. Carol, Adrian, our hearts are with you on this. This could be any one of us. And so now coming into '26, we had this come full circle and we had a bill introduced that would threaten to remove our authority for education. And so while not the full authority of the board, it certainly put us in the spotlight in a way we would have preferred to avoid. And concurrent to this, we are doing rulemaking.

You’ve worked as a public health nurse, school nurse, obstetric and pediatric nurse, and nurse educator before becoming a member of the MNBON in 1986. What inspired you to join the BON? Some of my colleagues encouraged me to apply to become a board member in 1986; and here I am, 26 years later. I served on the MNBON for nearly eight years, including a term as president. During that time, I was fortunate to do additional work in policy development with a state senator while in graduate school. That was when I got hooked on policy and regulation. continued on page 2 For this month’s Q&A, Mary Pat Olson, MPH, RN, director, Outreach Services, NCSBN, provides her expertise on a popular subject in the nursing community.

So we're going to get into the results, starting at looking at the demographics of telehealth providers. This histogram, it's a lot to look at, you don't really need to understand all of it, but what I've got here is the percentage of time a nurse spent doing telehealth versus the count on the y-axis. And so you can see, there's a wide variety of amounts of telehealth people are doing. You're almost as likely to spend 10% to 20% of your time on telehealth as 90% to 100% of your time on telehealth. You notice, there's a huge spike at the top here.
