The Model Nursing Practice Act and Nursing Administrative Rules are also available in the Policy section. One last resource on the website that Education Consultants find valuable is the Web Survey tool (link when you log into Passport). This tool can be used to send surveys to education consultants at other boards of nursing. There is a Help icon on the top of web survey with some FAQs; or you can call me and I’ll introduce you to this tool. Be sure to read Leader to Leader .

When using Speed Memos, remember to check them and respond daily, archive them once they are closed out, and avoid using them to survey all boards of nursing. The Nursys Reports At Your Fingertips Dashboard contains multiple reports you might find useful.

If an Item Shows DIF, So What? If an item shows DIF, it could mean: Although the statistics were positive for DIF, there is no evidence from reading the item itself that DIF exists. There is a genuine group difference, but nursing content requires this concept to be tested (e.g., obstetrics items). There is an extraneous feature within the item causing this DIF (wording, unusual terminology).

This database is the government of Canada’s terminology and linguistic data bank. This standardized data bank holds several million French/English equivalents to facilitate consistent translation of the official languages of Canada. Due to the specificity of the nursing profession, there are occasions when no translation exists in the Termium Plus® database for some nursing and/or health care terminology. In those instances, NCSBN utilizes an alternate approach to obtain a comprehensible term. Research is conducted using credible sources to obtain an acceptable translation.

We also saw indications of trauma in terms of adverse childhood experiences or life events in all three models as well. Of course, there are limitations to every study, and this study is no different. I alluded to social desirability earlier on, and that is certainly the case when you try to measure substance use in a profession such as nursing where livelihoods are at stake and in addition to all of the difficulties in terms of this phenomenon in general.

We have the practice analysis and KSA studies, along with the test plan at the second layer, which I'll go into further in the next slides. These activities then provide a foundation into the creation of content for item writing occurring at the third layer. After writing, items go through multiple reviews before pretesting. There are additional reviews such as DIF and NEC that occur in the sixth layer after pre-test. All items or test questions must go through this process before being scored on the exam. Also, don't forget that during these various stages of the item development process, there are numerous nurses involved in the item reviews.
