Physicians are asking nurse practitioners to practice outside their lane. NPs are particularly vulnerable to this misalignment where they think that having skill sets that they develop on the job, "Oh, well, the supervising physician or the collaborating physician, or my colleague can teach me how to do X, Y, Z." ©2022 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. All rights reserved. 3 It has to be part of that education and national certification. Procedural training by itself doesn't qualify competency. It creates misalignment when someone thinks that that's going to keep them in their role.
