So, now Jan will show you what we found, and I will raise some red flags. - [Janice] Thanks, Nancy. I wanted to say, what a pleasure it was for me to chair this committee and to work with Nancy and her staff. They're amazing. And then the committee members were all so good. Everybody was engaged in this project. When we started looking at, how can you tell if it's a quality program? There really isn't any evidence in the literature to tell you that. So, we're hoping that putting together the data from these different points of research will help us with that.

I tend to use a very long survey when I look at the types of substances consumed and risk factors. So that was the second piece of it. And the third had to do with student-certified nurse or registered nurse anesthetists. Ann Bostic and Linda Stone were consultants on the project, and very active in the AANA. They were instrumental in helping put the survey together, and really me getting to know the culture of CRNAs, etc. https://www.ncsbn.org/past-event/2024-ncsbn-scientific-symposium ©2024 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.

That's something worth noting. I think that's a good question. I know we haven't looked at it, but I think what you're suggesting might be possible that you could do that and you could say, "Okay, these people didn't renew the license, go out and do a research project on seeing what happened. I honestly think right now the closest data we have is the fact that we go to all licensed nurses and we do get...like, we could probably... Well, we don't, we don't, because it's anonymous. All we know is that they tell us they left nursing.

The effects of the work stressors can be buffered by individual or organizational resources. So this framework helped us to construct our focus group guide, questions, and our analysis. We recruited participants who had previously participated in the RN Work Project, which was a 10-year panel study of newly licensed nurses funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. These participants had consented to being contacted for future research opportunities. We recruited our participants via email, and we ended up with a sample size of 41, which we randomly split into two identical virtual focus groups.

So as I come to the end of this, I want to move on to M, measurement. Continuous improvement and accountability. Now, NCSBN has got a strong history in some of this work. And Joey Ridenour, who is in the room, did some work, she led some work in relation to the core project. We have revisited that work recently to analyze what we can build upon, but we've also been working on reviewing sunrise provision, and the publication was published as a standalone. ©2022 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. Rationale This is the third major revision of the Model Nursing Practice Act and Model Nursing Administrative Rules. The Practice, Regulation & Education Model Rules Revision Subcommittee has spent three years reviewing, researching, drafting and refining the revised models for presentation to the 2004 Delegate Assembly. In completing this project, the subcommittee has consulted with other NCSBN committees, NCSBN staff, Member Boards and interested external groups. In the early years of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Member Boards expressed the need for a Model Nurse Practice Act.
