Action Item: N/A #3 AGENDA ITEM: Review of Articles IV & V of the Model Act GOAL: Review and revise as much of the Model Act as possible. Discussion: The subcommittee reviewed the entirety of Article IV: Board of Nursing and the majority of Article V: RN, LPN/VN and APRN Licensure and Exemptions. Decision: The subcommittee made significant revisions to each article, its section structure, and wording of varying subpoints. Action Item: Finish review and revision of the Model Act in the next meeting. Members of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) come from all 50 U.S. states, Washington DC and 4 U.S. territories. Members are comprised of nursing regulatory bodies in: 50 U.S. states District of Columbia Four U.S. territories: American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the Virgin Islands Three states have two nursing regulatory bodies, one for registered nurses (RNs) and one for licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs): California, Louisiana and West Virginia One state, Nebraska, has two nursing regulatory bodies, one representing RNs and one representing advanced practice nurses (APRNs) In order to be approved for membership as a U.S. Member, nursing regulatory bodies must: Agree to use one or more NCSBN licensing examinations Execute an agreement Final approval for membership is made by the Delegate Assembly, NCSBN's policy-making body.
