Yes. - [Woman 1] I have a very... - [Woman 2] Could you say that on the microphone? - It's a very simple question. Where you refer to the evaluator as just MD, a medical doctor, is that what you're...? - Yes. I'm sorry. I should have said that at the beginning. I was abbreviating the doctor as MD. So for starters, what if there is an immediate, maybe unexpected change in nursing practice? How do we account for that on the exam, for instance, to make sure that candidates taking the test are still being tested on current information? - [Emily] Sure. So change in practice can happen, as we all know. Nursing and medical advances, the medical field is changing constantly. So if there's something that is identified through either the nursing regulatory bodies or some information within a review panel or however it comes to us, we have the ability at NCSBN to actually update those items that are within the bank that involve that particular practice change, as well as mask items that are on so that the items are not distributed to candidates that are taking the exam.

Clinical Judgment Measurement Model | NCLEX
Site: nclex.com
NCSBN researchers developed the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (NCJMM) as a framework for the valid measurement of clinical judgment and decision making within the context of a standardized, high-stakes examination. Layer 4 provides examples of contextual elements that were identified in the Nursing Clinical Decision-Making: A Literature Review . More detailed information about the NCJMM and the item development process can be found in various research publications including the Journal of Applied Testing Technology, 2019 Special Issue on Assessment in Medical Education . The Clinical Judgment Measurement Model is available for personal/educational, non-commercial use only. Please see terms prior to usage. Download the Model Underlying the NCJMM is a nursing process. However, there are varied models across educational and clinical settings, and the NCJMM was not constructed to replace any of these.
