Thank you, Jacklyn. That's right. It was whether students writing in French could toggle to see the English version so I think you've answered that. Hong, I think you may have answered this but just to clarify, are candidates taking the CAT exam able to go backwards and forwards across the items in the exam, or can they only proceed forward? - Thank you, Jason. The answer is no.

So, my first...so thank you. The second is were all of the schools that you studied, did they all have 600 or more hours of simulation? - I believe so. - Of clinical? - Of clinical. Yeah. I believe...for some reason, it got edited out of the report, but there was a range. And the range was somewhere around 200 hours and I think the low level was 600. I could be wrong. I want to say it was 600 to...and if it wasn't, it was something like 570 to 779 or something.

Leadership is about vision, but it's about more than vision. It's about the courage, the discipline and the resources to get it done. In the late 1990s, an exceptional group of regulators put a lot of time and effort into developing the original compact. It was truly a novel idea and was ahead of its time. I think it was a mid-year meeting. I do, I can tell you it was at the Wyndham in Chicago, and I don't want to call it a barroom brawl, but it was pretty close. The level of emotion. It was exciting. It was intense. They told Kathy Thomas and myself that we just expected too much.

Well, I know from my own experience, and being involved with National Council since 2010, and then when I served on the board of directors, it was really the highlight and the honor of my professional career to have been able to have served at that capacity, at that national level of leadership in nursing regulation.

Event 2024 NCSBN Scientific Symposium More info: https://www.ncsbn.org/past-event/2024-ncsbn-scientific-symposium Presenter Nicole Williams, DNP, RN, NPD-BC, NEA-BC, Associate Director, Examinations, NCSBN Good afternoon. As Brandon mentioned, my name is Nicole Williams. I'm the associate director of examinations at NCSBN. I've been a nurse for a little bit over 30 years. I started when I was 15. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. So, unsurprisingly, my interest has been in entry-level nursing for the last, probably about 14 years since joining NCLEX. Prior to joining NCLEX, I imagine that the exam was developed by four retired educators who were just in a closet somewhere writing questions just to stick it to the students.

We would love to review your submission, and we would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you. So I think that that's it. You really need more research on these emerging, kind of ever-evolving topics. And I think that there's a couple ways in which we can really help facilitate that. - Well, Brendan, I think with that, we are coming to the end. So I want to thank you, obviously, for your session and for sticking around for the Q&A.

And I think there's, I've done some other work on particularly the early career nurses who have left and, or what's driving their burnout in the past. And I think, you know, there's a real factor for the nurses who showed up and started nursing in 2019, and then faced the pandemic immediately.

Is there anything else really kind of cool that maybe people would be interested in that you didn't get a chance to touch on during your presentation? - Yeah, that's a good question. So I went over six features that I thought members would like quite a bit. And there is, I'll call it late-breaking seven. So when I was at mid-year, one of the questions that I got when sharing information about the Loop was from Allison in Washington.

In fact, the historical research I'm going to talk about this morning, let me just grab the clicker here, was greatly enhanced by the work over the years that I have found on your website, and through the "Journal of Nursing Regulation." In specific preparation for this talk, I examined your most recent documents, your workforce study, and your one on the impact of COVID on nursing education. And I tried to analyze them through the lens of history and compare them to the regulatory work of our predecessors more than 100 years ago in the wake of the 1918 flu.
