And so, in my example, I am an Indiana nurse practicing in Virginia and exercising my privilege to practice in Virginia. That is my authority given to me by the multistate license to practice in another compact state. My privilege to practice, that is what it's called. Likewise, if when I am practicing in that other state, if I were to violate the law and be disciplined, my privilege to practice in Virginia would be disciplined, okay?

I would like to thank my dad who taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. My husband Earl and son Preston who support me in this work I love. Every time I look at this award, I will be reminded of this moment, how much it means to me, and it will serve as motivation to continue this important work.

I also believe I have a public service ethos to want to give something back through my work. Describe a typical day for you. Most days are probably atypical, that is, never predictable. I couldn’t think of what would comprise a typical day so I looked at my calendar for the past week.

And fidelity is really important because nursing doesn't happen in a sterile environment, things can change all the time and you have to be able to adapt, and that's what fidelity is. I'd like to share just a quick story about, you know... There was a period of time where I was doing clinical preceptoring, and this is one of the situations that had I had this clinical judgment model, I think I would have approached it very differently, but... So, I had a nurse who I was an educator for and she was recruiting into nursing. ©2018 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.

And Terry Ward said, Participation in this educational initiative has put me on a path to being an education leader and policymaker who will elevate the plane of nursing globally. And I do think what speaks volume about this program is the fact that six courses are required, but so many of our upcoming graduates have taken way more than six. We have one individual, I think, that has taken 12. So I think that's a great indicator of the value of these courses.

Detail your involvement with NCSBN (e.g., attending NCSBN meetings/conferences, subject matter expert panelist, participation on networking calls and NCSBN committee member) that make you a strong fit for the LSC. I have been attending NCSBN annual, mid year, leadership, and discipline conferences since 2021 through the present day. I was a member of the most recent Governance and By-Laws Committee, which I found to be very rewarding. My experience on the committee made me enthusiastic about continuing my work on behalf of NCSBN on the LSC.

Here's a question that came in: As part of the study, did you collect any information from respondents in terms of ideas or suggestions that nurses had that would improve the situation relative to burnout? - As part of the general study, that was not directly a question that we asked. I think we may have had a couple of comments of people volunteering things, but in general, that had not been our focus because this is a subgroup of a broader study on nursing. And so I can say that since that wasn't a target, I don't think I can provide that information directly. - I appreciate that, Richard.

I felt that our assessment went really well. I realized that it is very easy for me to talk to patients and gather information. I felt comfortable walking into a patient room, observing what is going on, talking to family members and the patient –third semester student What did you notice (e.g. assessment findings, environment)?

There are places that are pretty well funded, but I would say, in general, it's been partially defunded. If I don't get questions, I start singing show tunes and you don't want that to happen. - [Woman 2] Okay. Fine, fine, fine. I'll ask one. Thank you so much for your presentation.
