Ethnocentrism is the assumption that beliefs and standards from an individual's culture are universally true and accepted by others, and these beliefs and standards are superior to other beliefs and standards. It is important to distinguish that while ethnocentrism should not be contained within items, the exam does require assessing how a religious belief or practice may impact medical care, such as providing ©2025 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. But as an entry-level male nurse, you still need to know how to deal with that. So we keep this item. Conversely, there are some items men routinely do better than women. For example, items talking about medical equipment, how to use technology. We keep those items too because it is important for entry- level nurses to know. Whether you are men or women, which ethnicity, you still need to do the job, and it is the same job. Therefore, even though we find a DIF item, as long as nursing content requires this concept, we still keep this item, and this item is not biased.

Whereas not only do you have a training program, but we're evaluating the effectiveness of that training program by sending out phishing emails. So I think that's a really good way of doing it. ©2018 National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. Well, maybe if you have a repeat offender what they'll do is they'll have a special video that other members of the staff will be able to hear as well when they click on that link.

Members of the INRC recognize that while social media is a beneficial tool, there are principles that nurses need to pay attention to in order to reduce risks to members of the public. Definition “Social media” describes the online and mobile tools that people use to share opinions, information and experiences, images and video or audio clips, and includes websites and applications used for social networking.

Again, most of those gray states that you see not in the compact, we will see them introduce a bill to join the compact this year. They won't all be successful. Some of them will be. We do anticipate passing the 40 state mark this year, and that's a big milestone. I also want to call your attention to the light blue states, which have already passed the bill. They already enacted the legislation, but they haven't implemented the compact yet. So keep in mind that Vermont is going to implement the compact on February 1st. That's coming up in about a week.
