When we started looking at the CE and the educational components, we're starting here looking at one for information for nurse leaders, we realized that a lot of nurse leaders weren't doing their quality monitoring on their Pyxis and their SureMed and their medications. And you know if you look for those standard deviations, you're going to see people that you might need to pay attention to, that you might need to target, to look at. So we've done one for nurse leaders that tell them ho ...

We want to expand our intranet so that there's more of the community, the fun aspects of it that people can participate in, especially in a hybrid work environment, which we are moving towards. And we also want to engage more broadly. And I think one of the things that I've seen really successfully through Megan and Angela is that attention to audiences like the public and some of the others. And we haven't done that focus yet, so we really need to kind of get there. But in the meantime, what we're focusing on is what's within our control, knowing that we can't change our technology tools right now.

So, light case volume in the case-to-investigator ratio metric, for every additional case, for every additional step in the case, so those are those case entries, we saw and kind of documented an 8% increase in the likelihood that the case would resolve over 177 days in the sample. And then, finally, I will point your attention here, if I can remember, maybe I won't. Advance the slide here. I'll just use the laser pointer. We did see that essentially umbrella agency type trended in the initial independent analysis. So, that was a key to us. It wasn't necessarily...you know, didn't hit that, like, rigid, you know, significant threshold, but it was an indicator to us that it was important likely to continue to investigate as we move forward into the next stage of the analysis.

An audit revealed substantial quantity of controlled narcotics Nurse H had signed out was unaccounted for as being either given to her patient or wasted. And there were 17 different examples of times that she had signed out large quantities of Demerol, but there was nothing in the medical record, nothing, nowhere. It was just completely... It was unclear where all these narcotics had gone. In this hospital, she worked for a hospital, the pharmacist testified that he was not conscientious in his work and in his accounting of narcotics.

So very quickly, so as I alluded to, we have a system called Medicare here in Australia. And actually, there were some changes to regulation that was made very early by the Commonwealth Government to change how they funded telehealth services by not just medical practitioners but by nurse practitioners as well. So those changes were implemented so that rebates could be given for telehealth consultation. So again, that's been...I think, again, it's been, you know, and it'll be a future learning for us, you know, how we use telehealth more effectively to provide that service provision to our community. - Thank you very much, Tanya.

Report_on_Future_of_Approval.pdf
BONs approve nursing programs as part of their mission of public protection. BONs recognize that nursing is a practice discipline where clinicians make life and death decisions daily about patients. Additionally, BONs are concerned about patient safety, which has become a national focus in health care; medical injuries affect 10 percent of hospitalized patients and cause hundreds of thousands of deaths per year (Leape, 2009). Therefore, maintaining minimum standards of nursing education programs is crucial for public protection because nurses are often the last line of defense for the patients (Benner et al., 2010). www.ncsbn.org 4 Yet, some have asked, Why is nursing one of the only professions to be involved in program approval?

And what that really means is, there's just a disconnect between the expectations and who shows up on the first day. I think traditionally as a profession, there are some schools of thought that as soon as you get your license, your NCLEX, okay, yeah, let's go, you're ready. Well, that's absolutely not congruent. When we think about in a medical model, a physician has a required residency, and part of that period is to support that new physician as they're gaining those additional skill and practice hours. In our profession, that's not required, nor is it always embedded in practice. So, we do have a dynamic where we have new nurses that need the support, but we're struggling to try to figure out how to create that environment.
