The site visits ordinarily take from a few hours to a few days, depending on the nature of the visit. Since the regulation of nursing is state-based, approval processes vary across states (see Box 36- 1 for the individual templates). Many jurisdictions coordinate their site visits with the national nursing accrediting agencies in an attempt to streamline the process and to avoid duplication of efforts.
