Funding for Your Work

Your Research Can Lead to Better Nursing

The NCSBN Grant Program provides funding for scientific research projects that advance the science of nursing policy and regulation and build regulatory expertise worldwide. Investigators may apply for grants up to $300,000. All projects must be completed within 24 months of the project start date.

Submission Due Dates

  • October 4, 2024
  • April 4, 2025

Award Information

  • Investigators may apply for grants up to $300,000.
  • All projects must be completed in 12-24 months of the project start date.

Allowable Expenses

  • Data collection, processing, statistical analysis;
  • Consultant fees (not to exceed $250 per day);
  • Reproduction/distribution of surveys or other tools;
  • Travel to the research study sites. Expenses related to travel and/or dissemination of data (such as a conference presentation) are limited to $1,500;
  • Research assistant; and
  • Other expenses directly related to the research process.

The grant does not allow for the purchase of durable goods and will not cover the cost of items previously purchased.  

Research Priorities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Outcome studies related to nursing regulation
  • Nursing workforce
  • Substance use disorders in nursing
  • New technologies related to the profession
  • Practice innovations/new models of care delivery
  • LPN, RN and APRN scope of practice
  • Impact of policy on nursing

Please know that all proposals providing data that can be used to inform new policy and regulations in nursing are welcomed.

How to Apply

• Proposals must be submitted using NCSBN's Grant Application form by 11:59pm CST of the submission deadline.

• Proposals must be typed in 12pt Times New Roman font and should be double spaced (excluding CVs, biographical sketches, budget and timeline).

• Application may not exceed 7,000 words (excluding CVs, biographical sketches, budget and timeline)
